When renovating our last home and now our apartment, one of the most difficult things is making it feel like your own when constantly surrounded by trends in colour, styles and design. The best advice I have is to keep objects to a minimum and only keep or buy things that have meaning to you and your loved ones. In a situation where many of us are so fortunate to have the choice regarding which companies and people we support, what do you want the decor in your home to represent?
The tiles in this photo were at Residence La Garcia in Trapani, Sicily - a small hotel we stayed at in the heart of town that had a focus on little touches like these locally made hand painted tiles to make their guests smile. It's amazing what a difference something like this can bring to your day.
