I'm still surprised by the number of foods which, when asked, we don't know how they are grown. It's no surprise when we have predominantly grown up in urban areas with parents who were busy buying from supermarket chains.
So, do you know what this photo is? They are actually caper flowers growing on the island of Salina, Sicily. Every year the beautiful island of Salina hots a festival celebrating the caper - organic, hand harvested and most delicious when eaten on the site they are grown. Almost too pretty to eat, Salina definitely has the best capers I've ever tasted!
Whenever you buy or eat something, ask yourself, your partner or your children the simple question - how is this grown or made and you'll learn and change your habits so much.
